I am glad to officially launch my very first WordPress plugin called “iCal for Worpress” (or simply iCal4WP). This plugin is a calendar system integrated within WordPress that helps you to create your post as event and delivers your calendar in different type of format such as ical format or simly in a list of events on your sidebar.
This plugin uses the standard WordPress category system to generate different type of calendar according to the topic of the category. It even allows you to point on a map (Google Maps only) the location of the event if you want to show the place.
Finally I’d like to mention that this plugin has an advanced repeat feature that allows you to have regular events automatically planned.

Get more information on this plugin on the iCal4WP page. Who still needs Google Calendar?!!!
I am pretty new to WordPress world but it sounds quite interesting piece of software well thought, easy to install and easy to use. I hope you enjoy this plugin and let me know if you have any request/bug or comments on my pretty crappy code…
nice calendar you got there buddy, this is really good and it will be very useful soon, thanks for your hard work
This looks like a great start! I have been looking for just such a plugin for about 3 different projects, and here it is. Unfortunately I can’t use it now, at least while it is still alpha. So get to it! (only kidding) I think a lot of people are going to be using this plugin.
Realy cool, i have been looking for just such a plugin for a long time too.
Do you know if it is compatible with the PHP iCalendar?
For mapping i love the Geo Plugin in combination with the Geo Mashup.
hi, tried the plugin it seems to be nice from what i saw, but couldn’t get it to work, i installed and set the options, i put your code properly to the sidebar, i entered an event, but it doesn’t work on the sidebar, the strange thing is there’s no error , it seems if function is not defined.. any idea what i am missing?
ole: I actually did not know PHP iCalendar before you mentioned it! It looks nice. I need to check whether it works together. It should be since both talk ical format (although I know I still have some issue with my ical formatting). I will look at their code to inspire me to improve the ical generating process.
Thanks for this remark.
mersenne: looks pretty strange to me. I’ll try to investigate later next week. Do you have more details about this issue? Which version of WP do you use?
Hi
Nice plugin. Tried the others and this is just what I wanted.
Comments:
1 – In “List of Events in Sidebar Options” – it has a REAL problem with atile containing an apostrophe.
2 – Same options area, it seems to default to 5, no matter what number (including 0) you type in.
Help please:
a – I know it’s tracking the locations and start/finish times, but I can’t figure out how to print them. Could we have an extended example of the syntax.
b – The “Create an Event” section on the post is nice. Might be good to spell out “from” and “to”.
c – Also, “time” fields seem too narrow. Not sure whether that is a problem or not.
d – I figure that the custom fields are being populated by the plugin. Can you keep that “window” closed so as not to confuse the user?
Thanks
Ted
Very cool, you’re off to a great start with this plugin already.
One suggestion/request: hcalendar/hevent microformat support (see microformats.org if you’re not familiar with them)
I’m not sure if it’ll make your job easier or harder but I believe it should make it easier since hcalendar is based on ical and there are plenty of parsers and parsing tools already which can handle parsing the calendar/events into ical as well as variations of it such as Outlook compatible, etc.
Hope to see continued progress on this great plugin!
Cheers,
Jā
Hi,
Great Plugin and thank you for making it. I have the plugin up and working, I can make a post, it shows the event(s) where I want them. But I don’t see anything on your site or in the downloaded files to tell me how to interface it with Google Calendar, etc. I can do the coding in my pages to show the drop down but it does me no good if I can’t link those to someplace else.
Thanks again,
Patrick
Hi,
thank you for this great plugin. I have coded on your module and realized the correct order of events in iCal_list_events and I also added a function parameter to control the number of events that are shown. If you provide me with your email address I will send you the new function as a donation for your work.

hi…
i love this plug-in.
just what i was looking for. it installs and works well for an alpha.
but now a query:
when i check to make an entry published only as an event, a post also appears under ‘recent posts’ in the sidebar.
anyway to avoid this.
thanks.
waiting for beta, now
The link http://gestadieu.free.fr/files/ical4wp.zip doesn’t work. Is there another place I can download from?
Hi,
I’ve just finished my Ajax Google Calendar reader in Combination with Google Maps, it’s working pretty good.
The Google Maps feature in combination with a public shared google calendar only works if the “where” field is filled in properly! (ie: Amsterdam, Netherlands or coordinates)
“Next update is to plot the locations on the Map!”
