iTunes 7

Saturday, September 16th, 2006

That’s obvious: as a Mac user, I immediatly download iTunes 7 earlier this week when it was announced, and what’s my feeling? I love it. That’s simple. Previous versions where good but this one is really a step further and brings a lot of good stuff.

I find the podcast interface really convenient and take a lot of good ideas from Democracy. I use Democracy since the very beginning and it is an amazing piece of software with some unique features.
I must admit that with iTunes 7, I am now using less Democracy because the basic and most important features that I use are really well integrated in iTunes now. Congrat to Apple and congrat to Democracy for their fantastic software that others are copying, keep up innovation!

What to say about the 2 new views for the music library? Excellent. Specially cover flow (see screenshot). I use this software before as well but to have it integrated, that’s so much easier, and yes, Apple can provide the cd cover…but only if you have an iTunes Store valid account (meaning a credit card available in those countries). Since I do not have one yet, I cannot say to much about it as well as others new features…but hey! If you really want some good view of iTunes 7, I am sure you know that this blog is not the best place to get a lot of details!!!

Yes indeed, I switched to MacOS! I guess if you read this, you know me, then you probably know that it does not mean that I am leaving OSS world and Linux, not really but now I have a beautiful, powerful and so user-friendly iMac 20′. Actually I have it for more than a month now.
Anybody ask why? My laptop motherboard die 2 months ago and I was tired to wait for Packard-Bell to change it (still under the warranty period) so I decided to make a big jump to another Unix-based system! I was damn right: my laptop is still not back…don’t buy this brand!

Anyway, once my laptop is back it will be Linux-based and I keep the iMac for family usage such as manage photos and so on, even my wife start now to do things a little bit more complex than writing a simple email! I am indeed a very happy MacOS X (Tiger) user and I will continue to use Linux because simply I love it and it brings so many things but I must admit that MacOS X is simple, user-friendly and beautiful…probably something KDE will come close with KDE4 next year…I am eager to see that.
